00:04:42  <blakmatrix1>ascoppa: https://github.com/ascoppa/simpleChat/blob/nodejitsu/app.js#L31 gets called mroe than once
00:04:45  <albertd>but what if it's already set, it gets overruled by the nodejitsu servers is that correct?
00:05:35  <blakmatrix1>albertd: http://headers.jit.su/
00:06:01  <albertd>yeah thats what I saw as well
00:06:33  <albertd>but if you have a proxy in front you will get the ip of the proxy server instead of the visitor
00:07:42  <albertd>maybe wise to add a x-real-ip if the x-forwarded-for is already set
00:07:53  <blakmatrix1>albertd: I'll have to ask devops that question I dont know it offhand
00:08:46  <albertd>blakmatrix1: thank you in advance, are they currently available?
00:10:27  <albertd>blakmatrix1: also possible to add multiple ip addresses in the x-forwarded-for by appending instead of replacing
00:10:32  <ascoppa>It should be called twice ... on with the connection event and again when a user enters its name

00:28:58  <blakmatrix1>ascoppa: I seem to rember binding to that ready event was a bad idea, as it would get called everytime there was a reconnect or something
00:29:39  <blakmatrix1>Raj_: what are you trying to do ?

00:56:33  <ascoppa>Perhaps this is a silly question ...but I don't know who is firing that callback so many times .... You said that it could be with any reconect ...
00:59:06  <blakmatrix1>redis db notes that the db has been fully loaded into memory
01:00:13  <ascoppa>This is the first app I'm building with node ...sometimes I forget the nature of node .... the server code should be executed once ... and the only thing that should executed many times are the event listeners
01:00:46  <ascoppa>So I'm going to move my connection callback from the redis ready callback
01:01:35  <ascoppa>and have some sort of flag ... to know if redis is ready (setted the first time the redis ready call is called)
01:04:29  <ascoppa> it's kind of a crappy solution ...though ...

09:55:43  <julianduque>and whats your app do? it is a webapp? it listens to a port?
09:56:19  <frinzer>yes it's a webapp and listens to port 3000
09:57:19  <julianduque>does it have dependencies? it seems that you need to add the dependencies to the package.json
09:57:30  <julianduque>the app is trying to use a module that isn't there
09:57:51  <julianduque>refer to http://package.json.jit.su/ if you need more information :)
09:58:40  <julianduque>if you always append the --save param to 'npm install' it will add the dependency for you in the package.json

18:03:56  <doubletap>is there a way to run an arbitrary script via jitsu on an app?
18:06:53  <doubletap>for example, I want to run a script to change the way I am hashing something in the DB but I would like to use some node modules to do it.
18:07:12  <jaha>we can run haibu on nodejitsu correct? how does that work with only have port 80 available?
18:07:14  * kenperkinsjoined

18:09:34  <jcrugzz_>jaha: nodejitsu runs haibu internally. you would setup haibu one one of your own servers from joyent, rackspace, amazon, etc if you wanted.

18:14:58  <jcrugzz_>doubletap: I am still unclear in what exactly you would be changing with this script.
18:15:03  * defunctzombie_zzchanged nick to defunctzombie
18:15:24  <blakmatrix>doubletap: would have to deploy that script when you deploy, apart fom that it'd require your imagination and a little code work
18:15:42  <doubletap>jcrugzz_: lets see, how about if I wanted to run some sort of load test or diagnostic from inside the app, or trigger a scenario, or something of that sort.
18:16:11  <doubletap>ok, so it can not be done from jitsu, blakmatrix?
18:17:26  <blakmatrix>doubletap: not without deoloying, not currently at least
18:17:31  <jcrugzz_>doubletap: It seems you would want to expose some kind of api on your app that you could then trigger that action with your own local script. I dont believe jitsu can do anything for you in this case
18:18:24  <doubletap>ok, thanks guys. I figured but I wanted to make sure I was not missing it in the docs.
