00:06:37  <trindaz>ok discovered the problem - When you load embedded scripts in the html like javascript, images, css, JMeter seems to lose its mind a bit. loading page sources only got back to respectable times. I guess this is really more for the JMeter wiki/docs than for nodejitsu, but it might be relevant in lieu of other recommended performance checking tools from you guys.

00:09:42  <bobmayo56>you know, webchat.freenode.net seems to not work for me
00:09:52  <bobmayo56>it it working? there's no capta
00:10:16  <bobmayo56>in any event, I came to enquire about your DNS servers, but look like the Topic: takes care of that.
00:11:26  <Sly>bobmayo56: cool deal. You're free to hang around if you'd like.
00:11:47  <Sly>trindaz: are your images stored somewhere else? That could be why JMeter takes so long.
00:11:57  <bobmayo56>I guess any of my customers that have cached that IP are going to have problems...
00:12:44  <Sly>bobmayo56: it shouldn't stay in their cache for that long. It depends on what your TTL is on your DNS settings.
00:13:07  <trindaz>Sly: nope it was all on nodejitsu. I suspect it loads them in serial rather than parrallel.
00:13:22  <Sly>trindaz: Ah. That could explain it too.
00:14:29  <trindaz>I'm pretty happy with that - 1 drone was handling 5k requests a minute, half of which included reads and writes to the MongoHQ db I got through my plan. I would have kept increasing it but JMeter struggles after that point.
00:14:43  <trindaz>I really want to find out what kills a drone though
00:15:07  <Sly>lol. Have fun. :3
00:15:15  * pedrodiasjoined
00:15:59  <trindaz>And how can I check mem usage on the drone? I'm using a node package that stores session data in memory instead of db because the popular solutions I found (connect-mongodb and connect-mongo) both crashed randomly in messy ways.

10:37:22  <tim___>hi folks. i really like nodejitsu, but there is one thing that annoys me: i have a project and 3 servers within (http, websocket, background). And i cant find any easy approach to start them. Right now i have to generate 3 different package.json files and deploy them to jitsu. Is it possible to have more than one start scripts in the package file?
10:38:44  * andris9quit (Remote host closed the connection)
10:39:08  <julianduque>tim___: they are three different applications or all the servers bind to the same http?

10:39:59  <julianduque>tim___: if they are different applications it should be on three different package.json and 3 different drones.. if all the servers bin to the same http server you can write a start script that binds the three
10:40:22  <julianduque>juliangruber: jitsu uses `npm start` as default start script
10:41:12  <juliangruber>julianduque: mentioning like crazy :P
10:41:51  <julianduque>juliangruber: ahhh sorry :p
10:42:14  <julianduque>tim___: jitsu uses `npm start` as default start script

10:49:39  <tim___>that share same libs
10:50:23  <julianduque>tim___: as I said, you can bind your websockets to the http server, idk if you can do the same with the background
10:50:37  <julianduque>tim___: and use only one app
10:50:58  <tim___>y, it is possible, but it is better to separate them
10:51:40  <julianduque>so, you will need three different apps with three different package.json

21:14:02  <outrunthewolf>hi. this is pretty cool. I got directed here when I had some trouble deploying with jitsu
21:14:35  <saberone>@blakmatrix: Gotta go. Thanx for the help and effort! I'll be back this week to see if it'll work
21:15:39  * lwicksquit (Remote host closed the connection)
21:16:27  <Barnzy>outrunthewolf: Yeah, I'm finding it very helpful, have a regular looking at one of my issues now.
21:16:52  * saberonequit
21:17:05  <outrunthewolf>is the npm version of jitsu the most up to date?
21:17:18  <outrunthewolf>Or am I best to build from github?
21:18:39  <Barnzy>Yes, I literally just updated my npm version of jitsu and deploy went fine.
21:19:24  <outrunthewolf>nice thanks. will try that
21:19:49  <Barnzy>jitsu install followed by jitsu deploy should work as of 5 mins ago when I last deployed. :-)

21:23:26  <outrunthewolf>ah sucks :( I'll have to remove the module and re-install it. Keep getting a 500 error on deploy
21:24:31  <jcrugzz>outrunthewolf: run a `jitsu deploy --debug` and post the gist of the output.
21:25:08  <outrunthewolf>roger that
21:25:28  <jcrugzz>Barnzy: still haven't gotten mine to work yet, appreciate the patience :)
21:25:53  * ebrightquit (Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
21:26:06  <Barnzy>jcrugzz: Not a proble, appreciate the help. Are you hitting the same problem?

21:28:57  <Barnzy>jcrugzz: Well, thanks for trying, let me know if you get anything, perhaps it's due to it being a private repo.

21:40:19  <fusiongrokker>imo jitsu shouldn't complain when I do a restart and the app isn't running. it should just start it. :P
21:41:05  <nathan7>restart starts on the same drone
21:41:12  <nathan7>start provisions a new drone and starts it
21:41:20  <outrunthewolf>nah same errors on deploy.
21:41:33  <outrunthewolf>i'll do a build of jitsu straight from github
21:43:41  <outrunthewolf>gist if anyone is interested in the error https://gist.github.com/outrunthewolf/5103358
21:43:51  <jcrugzz>outrunthewolf: thats probably not the reason, may be some internal issues going on. Let me look at that gist
21:44:13  * jetiennepart
21:44:23  <outrunthewolf>ok cool, let me know
21:44:26  * jetiennejoined
21:45:24  <jcrugzz>outrunthewolf: can you gist me your package.json?
21:45:41  <outrunthewolf>of course 2 secs
21:46:26  <outrunthewolf>there we go, see comments in the same gist
21:49:53  <jcrugzz>outrunthewolf: try setting your version in your package.json to 0.1.4
21:50:02  <jcrugzz>for some reason its being turned to null
21:50:15  * c4milojoined
21:50:50  <outrunthewolf>tried that
21:51:17  <outrunthewolf>weird... does jitsu change my package.json?
21:51:40  <outrunthewolf>thats right, it keeps stripping my version number out
21:52:02  <jcrugzz>it usually increments your version on deploy
21:53:15  * spacenickquit (Remote host closed the connection)
21:55:03  <outrunthewolf>ah I see
21:55:23  <jcrugzz>does it still give you the same error if you try and deploy it with a higher version?
21:55:34  <outrunthewolf>yes
21:55:48  <outrunthewolf>and if I reset the version to 0.0.0

22:00:46  <outrunthewolf>Yes, how would you like to see it? I'm on bitbucket for this one, not github
22:01:04  <jcrugzz>sure
22:01:33  <nathan7>outrunthewolf: The snapshot in the DB is 1.2
22:02:51  * spacenickjoined
22:02:52  <outrunthewolf>yeah I noticed that
22:03:07  <outrunthewolf>here you go
22:03:35  <outrunthewolf>https://bitbucket.org/outrunthewolf/calendar-app-server
22:03:49  <outrunthewolf>there have been some updates since my last push, but nothing major
22:06:20  <blakmatrix>outrunthewolf: i reset it to 0.0.0 ... in the db you had 1.2 which breaks things when you dont have "<major>.<minor>.<patch>" as is standard in node/npm
22:06:49  <blakmatrix>outrunthewolf: you sould be able to deploy now with a version that follows tht standard
22:06:52  <outrunthewolf>great thanks for telling me, i'll remember in future
22:09:40  <Barnzy>jcrugzz: Any ideas? I'm starting to think it may just not want to work for me.

22:11:38  <outrunthewolf>thanks for that. works like a dream.
22:11:50  <Barnzy>Ah brilliant, were you able to get your hook talking to github and deploying just not get any feedback?

22:28:35  <Barnzy>In terms of datacentre allocation, I'm assuming it's done purely on a load balancing bases as opposed to geoip based from whever we are deploying from on the individual nodejitsu packages?
22:30:22  <jcrugzz>Barnzy: individual plans are hosted on joyent US-East-1
22:30:37  <jcrugzz>business plans allow you the flexibility to choose where you deploy
22:32:41  <Barnzy>Ah, I see, thanks again jcrugzz, may invest in said business plan once I'm up and running then, would be awesome to pick the uk datacentre.

22:49:53  <jcrugzz>Barnzy: i think their are various apps if you want a gui to manage mongo dbs (i know they do for mac)
22:50:53  <Barnzy>jcrugzz: I will have a look around, in terms of authentication, it seems to have created a database for me, what would my login details be? My NodeJitsu login details?
22:51:27  <jcrugzz>Barnzy: doesn't it give you a connection string of sorts?
22:52:20  <Barnzy>Yeap, shall I just supply that when I get my gui?
