01:28:32  <Guest36809>I have a terrible memory leak with require('jquery'). All I want to do is parse arbitrary HTML and use jQuery on it
01:28:47  <peterbrowse>try cheerio
01:28:54  <Cygnus_X>if i log into nodejitsu, it gives me some data for databases. on one line, i have a long connection string. on the next, it gives me a host, username and password. my guess is that i just don't have the port number right, but i'm really guessing
01:29:19  <Guest36809>But does it have the option of serializing forms like jQuery does? Or can I use jQuery with cheerio?
01:29:44  <jcrugzz>Cygnus_X: i think 27017 is the standard port

01:30:26  <jcrugzz>peterbrowse: can you uninstall jitsu, run a `npm cache clear` and then reinstall it? and make sure your package.json is set to your correct app name and everything
01:30:27  <Guest36809>I tried using cheerio, and the only thing it has that I need is a form serialization method like jQuery
01:30:49  <Guest36809>*only thing it doesn't have
01:31:24  <Cygnus_X>jcrugzz: i tried that, and it still won't connect : \
01:31:42  <peterbrowse>Ah, I see, I'd probably resort back to native javascript to solve that problem after you've grabbed the html data from the page with a package like cheerio, might be easier in this instance...

01:31:55  <peterbrowse>but that's just my two cents
01:32:09  <Guest36809>And cheerio doesn't have problems with memory leaks?
01:33:54  * DTrejojoined
01:34:14  <peterbrowse>There's always homework to be done checking for leaks with DOM selection on node.js, but I'm running cheerio alongside 'request' in a general pool package so it destroys the resource after each use, so may differ with your implementation
01:36:58  <jcrugzz>Cygnus_X: hmmm i have no idea how mongovue would behave differently..
01:37:11  <Cygnus_X>me neither
01:37:16  <Cygnus_X>let me also ask this...
01:38:01  <Cygnus_X>when i created my mongodb on nodejitsu, i found that the db itself is hosted at mongolab. i would have thought the username/password nodejitsu generated for me would let me log in at mongolab, but it dose not
01:40:08  <jcrugzz>Cygnus_X: no it doesn't. Nodejitsu parterned with them to provide an easy way to get a starter instance to get you going. if you wanted the full fledged gui of mongolab id make an acct with them

06:28:11  <nathan7>jesusabdullah: Flatiron was a part of why peerDeps was wanted
06:28:16  <soldair_>an old version of jitsu (0.11.1) installed globally was causing EPEERINVALID errors due to flatiron-cli-config. i guess it didn't really break anything it just produces error output even if the package doesn't use any part of flatiron. https://gist.github.com/soldair/5159259
06:28:18  <nathan7>jesusabdullah: When peerDeps were introduced, they broke jitsu
06:28:24  <nathan7>soldair_: Yeah, we're aware
06:28:35  <nathan7>soldair_: sudo npm uninstall -g jitsu && sudo npm install -g jitsu

07:19:35  <julianduque>maasan: our load balancers select the drone and redirect the request to that drone
07:19:57  <julianduque>maasan: we use a simple round robin + sticky sessions for websockets
07:20:00  <julianduque>alucardX: good morning!
07:23:42  <maasan>julianduque: Okay. Lets assume that all users in Drone 2 has logged out. Will you still use round robin between 1 and 2.?
07:25:05  <julianduque>maasan: yes, because, we don't know about internal sessions of the apps, also, only 1 app can run on a drone
07:26:31  * davidbanhamquit (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
07:26:57  <maasan>julianduque: Okay, I understood. Then why it is called load balancer? What is the exact meaning load balancing? Is it just a round robin allocation?
07:29:57  <julianduque>maasan: because the requests are distributed by the number of drones your app had and *it's* balancing the load of the drones, and, round robin it's a valid and commong load balancing algorithm
07:32:19  <maasan>julianduque: Thanks. I understood.

14:05:58  <Sly>alchimis_: We only provide the IP address, not country information. You will have to gather that information elsewhere, such as a GeoIP database.

15:36:44  <kaareal>hey there so i am trying to figure out what is going wrong with my symbolic links, is there a way i can explore the dir structure of my app ?
15:38:34  <Sly>kaareal: you can use `jitsu snapshot fetch <app>` to get a snapshot of what we currently have in the package you choose to fetch.
15:38:45  <Sly>Other than that, we don't provide SSH access or anything of that sort.
15:39:46  <kaareal>Sly: kk thanks

15:46:39  <Sly>kaareal: the filesystem should clean itself once your application gets moved to a new drone.
15:46:47  <nathan7>kaareal: Your drone fills up, bad idea
15:46:51  <nathan7>kaareal: You have 2G of storage on a drone
15:47:03  <nathan7>That's a hard limit. ENOSPACE or whatever
15:47:17  <Sly>^ That is also a possibility too, depending on the image size.

16:07:56  <barnzy>So I have a standard dev version of my js and css and I have a min version, unfortunately, they both exported to the same folder, however I just run express.static() over this folder so essentially the dev css and js is accessible on the production server. It's not really a nodejitsu question and more of a general node one. How do I go about locking down those dev files?

16:08:38  <barnzy>Or more is the question: How do I tell node to use one file on dev environment and another on the production?
16:09:10  * alchimis_quit (Remote host closed the connection)
16:09:12  <Sly>barnzy: you can use process.env.NODE_ENV to specify production/development, and then set the NODE_ENV environment variable.
16:09:26  <Sly>barnzy: NODE_ENV="development" node yourscript.js
16:09:45  <Sly>barnzy: or in jitsu's case, `jitsu env set NODE_ENV development` in the directory of your app

20:38:05  <ProLoser>is there a bot in here?
20:38:18  <yawnt>ProLoser: not that i know of, why?
20:38:33  <ProLoser>my OS project is a universal IRC bot
20:38:49  <yawnt>ProLoser: when did you submit it?
20:38:53  <blakmatrix>with a bot you could check the status of OS project if it was set up right
20:38:56  <ProLoser>one or two days ago
20:39:16  <ProLoser>the question was completely unrelated
20:39:23  <ProLoser>i thought it might be interesting to provide a bot for you guys :)
20:39:40  <ProLoser>i wanted to develop 1 irc bot that serves multiple channels and namespaces everything by channel name
20:40:02  * intabulasquit (Remote host closed the connection)
20:40:13  <ProLoser>that way you don't have to write or host your own bot if you want one in your irc channel
20:40:19  <ProLoser>you just add your channel to the registry
20:40:29  <ProLoser>similar to chanserv
20:40:31  <yawnt>ProLoser: i was just making sure there hadn't been some sort of technical problems

20:40:59  <ProLoser>is it possible to put files on jitsu that are not versioned?
20:41:06  <ProLoser>like db passwords or config files?
20:41:12  <ProLoser>i have them ignored by git
20:41:12  * V1changed nick to `3rdEden
20:41:23  <ProLoser>i think i had to make a local branch that contained the file
20:41:29  <ProLoser>i'm wondering if there's a better approach to this
20:41:41  <ProLoser>i'm assuming probably something like putting the data in the env
20:41:56  * spacenickjoined
20:42:31  <ProLoser>although it would be helpful if the env variables could handle json
20:42:54  <ProLoser>hmm
20:42:58  <ProLoser>your error message is missing a space
20:43:06  <yawnt>ProLoser: env variables can handle json
20:43:20  <ProLoser>http://cl.ly/image/1O3j3M3W3636
20:43:21  <yawnt>and yeah, usually env variables is the way to go
20:43:22  <yawnt>:)
20:43:39  <ProLoser>just type the whole json object straight into the value?
20:43:59  <yawnt>ProLoser: json.stringify first
20:44:04  <yawnt>and json.parse it in your code
20:44:05  <yawnt>:)

20:48:25  <ProLoser>is it possible to pull from jitsu?

20:51:20  <ProLoser>can i pull the snapshot ?

20:53:56  <ProLoser>nor can i login to the website

20:55:48  <ProLoser>so how can i manage my jitsu's db?
20:57:37  <yawnt>ProLoser: i think mongohq has some sort of way to clone an existing database into a new one
20:58:06  <ProLoser>well i mean
20:58:15  <ProLoser>i treid using mongohub to connect
20:58:21  <ProLoser>is it whitelisting nodejitsu?

21:00:34  <ProLoser>because it's your credentials
21:00:45  <ProLoser>and i can't use a gui because there's an ip whitelist (i'm guessing)
21:00:51  <ProLoser>so how am i supposed to do this?
21:01:27  <yawnt>ProLoser: you should backup your mongodb datas in the db created via jitsu
21:01:38  <yawnt>and restore them in a mongodb created with your account
21:01:41  <yawnt>last time i tried
21:01:51  <yawnt>i was able to connect to mongohq from my machine

In the same vien, how can I stop people viewing the dev versions in production if they were to go to them manually?
