05:00:03  <mmalecki>I'd recommend doing that on heroku - their load balancers are far from clever. not hating anything, just encouraging you to try it :)

05:00:44  <kenperkins>fair enough
05:01:00  <kenperkins>the key with 186 was that it allowed you to define a function that could format the output of the level, not just the message

05:01:50  <mathieusylvain>Not yet... locally I can handle roundtrip at 1 or 2ms and the gameloop is alway under 0.3 ms. But the same setup jumps to 150 to 400ms on nodejitsu (when it was working). Let me test 5 or 6 windows on heroku .
05:02:13  <kenperkins>indexzero: have to break the habit to communicate in IRC first sometimes

11:18:36  <andyhayes>needed a hard restart of the app - stop then start to fix
11:19:04  <nathan7>Nexxy: building an RPC thingy
11:19:46  <andyhayes>is that a fault or is it always best to do a full restart after changing drone count?

11:20:35  <andyhayes>yeah, that's what i hoped! :)
11:21:06  <andyhayes>i actually reduced count from 5 down to 1 - wonder if that's the issue?
11:22:09  <andyhayes>i've actually seen the 502 errors a few times before - weird that it seems to load the html fine but not js/css/image resources

16:14:58  <badevguru>Sly: Thanks, I confirmed my local copy is picking up NODE_ENV = production (I see it logged) and I also confirmed the setting is in the nodejitsu environment tab, so that appears to be a dead end for now.
16:15:55  <Sly>badevguru: does it give any problems when you run it with NODE_ENV=production?
16:16:16  <Sly>(Locally, that is.)
16:16:27  <Sly>We always run it with NODE_ENV=production on our platform, unless you specify otherwise.
16:16:40  <Sly>And you can also change NODE_ENV from the environment tab, or `jitsu env set`.
16:19:05  <badevguru>Sly: So it runs normally, but that include an escalation in permissions when I run it from the command line. There are some /dev/devices it tries to access and it seems to trudge ahead if it cannot find them. I ultimately get a browser listening locally.
16:20:41  <Sly>If you need extra permissions on the system, I highly doubt it will run. There aren't any elevated permissions for applications.
16:22:43  * orocequit (Quit: Leaving.)
16:24:18  <badevguru>Sly: Would that explain no logs being generated? I believe the app is coded by default to find things in /dev/<device> that on my local system, the standard user accounts need to run (sudo is commandline). The system should fail gracefully if permission is denied... but I am double checking right now.
16:24:46  <Sly>badevguru: what's the username and application name? Loggly may just be slow today. It might actually be logging.

23:08:59  <caseywebdev>I'm running into a strange pbkdf2 issue with 0.10.4 on nodejitsu, but not locally. require('crypto').pbkdf2Sync('a', 'a', 1, 1).toString('hex') will return 'e8' locally, but is returning utf8 on nodejitsu
23:09:37  <caseywebdev>this is the same for 'base64', it's as if the argument passed to toString is being ignored
